I knew him from the old days in 60/70s when he ‘mama’ - to Balbir kaur used to visit us in leicester (my dad was Jagir Singh aka babu). Last saw mama ji a few months ago at Balbir’s funeral. Understandably he didn’t initially recognise me but had the warmest smile on his face when I reminded whose daughter I was. Deep bonds never fade.
He, along with all the others who arrived from India at the time were brave pioneers who worked hard to give us the comforts of life that we enjoy today. They became community leaders, they gave us the opportunity of education, they led with integrity and respect.
Mama ji - you are a great loss not only to you family but to everyone who had the privilege to know you.
With admiration and blessings… your legacy will live on in many peoples hearts and minds 🙏🏽🌈💕
